Fools—Wise Or Otherwise

By Dr. Harry A. Ironside

I am going to ask your attention to two passages of Scripture, as I begin this message. We may turn to a number more as we go along. In the book of Proverbs, chapter ten, the last part of verse twenty-one, we read: “Fools die for want of wisdom.”

And then in First Corinthians, chapter 3, verse eighteen: “Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world, let him become a fool, that he may be wise.”

These verses may seem almost paradoxical, but in the one instance God is speaking from …

The Annunciation

By Dr. Harry A. Ironside

And in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth. To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David: and the virgin’s name was Mary. And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women. And when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this should be. And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou …

The Mind Of Christ

By Dr. Harry A. Ironside

Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: but made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: and being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, …

Saved By Grace

By Rev. Harry Liu

Testimony of a Chinese Moody Bible Institute Student and Moody Church Missionary

Romans 1:16: “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”

Psalm 116:8: “For thou hast delivered my soul from death, mine eyes from tears, and my feet from falling.” This verse tells you what the Lord has done for me: He has “delivered my soul from death” therefore He is my Redeemer; He has delivered “mine eyes from tears” so He is also …

The Gospel Of Luke—Its Theme And Author

By Dr. Harry A. Ironside

Forasmuch as many have taken in hand to set forth in order a declaration of those things which are most surely believed among us, Even as they delivered them unto us, which from the beginning were eye-witnesses, and ministers of the word; It seemed good to me also, having had perfect understanding of all things from the very first, to write unto thee in order, most excellent Theophilus, That thou mightest know the certainty of those things, wherein thou has been instructed.”

In taking up the study of any one of the Gospels it is always well to look at …

The Christian Worker And His Bible

By Dr. Harry A. Ironside

In addressing you today I shall not attempt anything in the way of a regular sermon. As most of you know, I do not have a very orderly mind. I am not accustomed to that delightful homiletical style that so many of you have cultivated and which is so much enjoyed by others. My practice is generally to say just one thing after another as it comes to my mind, and today I want to talk to you about the use of the Bible in Christian work, and in doing this I shall attempt to bring before you certain things …

The Coming Forerunner

By Dr. Harry A. Ironside

There was in the days of Herod, the king of Judaea, a certain priest named Zacharias, of the course of Abia; and his wife was of the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elisabeth. And they were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless, and they had no child, because that Elisabeth was barren, and they both were now well stricken in years. And it came to pass, that while he executed the priest’s office before God in the order of his course, according to the custom of the priest’s office, …

Christ As Creator

By Dr. Charles A. Porter

We have often been reminded that the four Gospel accounts, Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John present four different aspects of the character and ministry of our Lord Jesus Christ. In Matthew, which was written with special emphasis for the Jew, He is seen as the King of Israel. The genealogy of the first Gospel takes us to David and Abraham to prove His right to the throne. In Mark’s Gospel there is no genealogy as there Christ is set forth as the Servant of Jehovah. A servant would have no genealogy! “Straightway, immediately, forthwith” and “anon” are the words that …

Divine Priorities

By Dr. Harry A. Ironside

“Seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you.”—Matthew 6:33

We hear much these days about priorities. A few months ago the word was rarely ever used. To many it was comparatively unknown. The war has brought several new words into common usage which formerly had no particular appeal. It was so in connection with the last war. I recall very well being a witness in a law suit involving a will which was protested by the other side as a forgery. It was supposed to be an instrument conveying …

The Saviour's Touch

By Dr. Harry A. Ironside

The first word picture I want to consider is found in Luke, chapter, 7, reading from verse 11. I want to talk to you on the Saviour’s touch, the touch of the hand of Jesus, that wonderful hand that brought blessing to everyone upon whom it was laid. Here we read:

“And it came to pass the day after, that he went into a city called Nain; and many of his disciples went with him, and much people. Now when he came nigh to the gate of the city, behold, there was a dead man carried out, the only son …
