As Mary and Joseph carried out the requirements of the Law by taking Jesus to the Temple at eight days old, the righteous man, Simeon, held Jesus and proclaimed that he had seen his salvation.
Simeon knew the child that he held. Instructed by God’s Word, he was in step with God’s Spirit, and he understood God’s plan to extend the Gospel to every tribe and tongue through Jesus. As a holy remnant out of a largely disobedient people, He walked with God.
