Pastor Philip's Prayer for the 2024 Lausanne Congress on World Evangelization

Would you pray for me this week? I’m joining the North American delegation for the Fourth Lausanne Congress on World Evangelization hosted in Seoul, South Korea.

History of the Lausanne Congress

In 1974, Billy Graham and John Stott initiated the first gathering in Lausanne, Switzerland, responding in part to the failure of the “conciliar missions movement” which had fallen into theological drift. Graham and Stott believed the world needed an evangelically faithful gathering to coordinate the global church to reach the whole world with the good news of Jesus Christ. Subsequent congresses were held in Manila, Philippines in 1989 and Cape Town, South Africa in 2010. This week is the fourth gathering, with a focus on the next quarter century as we coordinate as a biblically faithful global church to reach every tribe, tongue, people, and language with the Gospel of Jesus. The whole world needs the whole Gospel for the whole of life, and it will take the whole church to make it happen.

Ten Prayers for the Lausanne Congress

I covet your prayers this next week:

1. That Lausanne would remain biblically faithful to the Way of Jesus.

2. That we North Americans would learn much of what God is doing in the majority world.

3. That the global church would boldly speak the unchanging truth of Christ in a rapidly changing world.

4. That God would knit all of his children together with unity and familial love.

5. That we would resolve to share and show the love of God in all the world.

6. That the groundwork would be laid for reaching every tribe, tongue, nation, and people.

7. That the Spirit would move to inspire a rising generation of global church leadership.

8. That travel safety and logistics would go smoothly for the 5,000 participants.

9. That the families and ministries of all involved would flourish under God’s protection.

10. That God would be glorified, Christ exalted, and the Spirit delighted.

Thank you for your faithful prayers. Your partnership in the Gospel both warms my heart and inspires confidence in all these endeavors. Please remember, you are loved, more than you know!
