Daring To Draw Near: Volume 1

A Priest Who Saves

Dr. Erwin W. Lutzer | June 9, 1996

Selected highlights from this sermon

In Hebrews 7, a king-priest named Melchizedek is referenced. This unusual king-priest first shows up in Genesis. The author of Hebrews argues that Melchizedek was greater than Aaron, and that Jesus is a priest in the line of Melchizedek.

Jesus is exalted as the eternal priest who saves perfectly. He’s not like the Levitical priests who had to offer many sacrifices for themselves and for the people. Jesus offered Himself once to pay for the sins of everyone for all time.
