The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, and whoever captures souls is wise. Proverbs 11:30
D.L. MOODY
If we have known Jesus Christ for years, and have not been able to introduce an anxious soul to Him, there has been something wrong somewhere. If we were full of grace, we should be ready for any call that comes to us. Paul said, when he had that famous interview with Christ on the way to Damascus, “Lord, what wilt thou have me to do?” (Acts 9:6). Isaiah said, “Here am I; send me” (Isaiah 6:8). No man can tell what he can do until he moves forward. If we do that in the name of God, instead of there being a few scores or hundreds converted, there will be thousands flocking into the kingdom of God. Remember that we honor God when we ask for great things. It is a humiliating thing to think we are satisfied with very small results.
ERWIN LUTZER
As an evangelist speaking to tens of thousands, Moody led multitudes to faith in Christ. Clearly, that is not what you and I are gifted to do. But we can share the gospel individually, seeking opportunities to lead people to faith in Christ.
Here are some questions I’ve often shared to begin a spiritual conversation. Ask, “Where are you on your spiritual journey?” Then follow up with other questions on why they hold the beliefs they do. Or you might want to ask, “What is your idea of God?” Again let them tell you where they stand, spiritually speaking. Don’t feel you must be quick to rebuke them, rather ask clarifying questions and how their beliefs have helped them. Then tell them about your belief in Christ and the promises of eternal life He offers.
Sow the seed. Trust God for the harvest.
