Just Like That!

From darkness to light. Acts 26:18

D.L. MOODY
I remember one night when the Bible was the driest and darkest book in the universe to me. The next day, it was all light. I had the key to it. I had been born of the Spirit. But before I knew anything of the mind of God in His Word, I had to give up my sin.

ERWIN LUTZER
The miracle of the new birth comes to us from above. It is not self-generated; it is not even a cooperative effort between us and God. It is a direct miracle of creation within us so that, after we have received Jesus Christ as Savior, there was something within us not there previously. It is a miracle of God.
Jesus said to Nicodemus, “Unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God” (John 3:3). The Word of God and the Spirit of God are brought together by God to create within us the life of God. This results in a supernatural reality. “If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come” (2 Corinthians 5:17). After we are born again, the Bible becomes food to us. We need food to grow physically, we also need food to grow spiritually. The Word of God has within it a whole meal; in the Bible, the Word is described as milk, meat, and honey. The new nature needs to be fed; it needs nourishment.
Meditation is to the soul what digestion is to the body.
Thank God that, through the power of the gospel, we are given a new appetite—and a new appreciation for the promises of God. Darkness turns to light.

PRAYER
Father, I thank you for the power of the Spirit that brought me both life and light.
