(Extra) Ordinary Glory

And those who are wise shall shine like the brightness of the sky above; and those who turn many to righteousness, like the stars forever and ever. Daniel 12:3

D.L. MOODY
How empty and short-lived are the glory and the pride of this world! If we are wise, we will live for God and eternity; we will get outside of ourselves and will care nothing for the honor and glory of this world. In Proverbs 11:30 we read: “He that winneth souls is wise.” If any man, woman, or child, by a godly life and example, can win one soul to God, their life will not have been a failure. They will have outshone all the mighty men of their day because they will have set a stream in motion that will flow on and on forever and ever.

ERWIN LUTZER
Everything exists for God. Was He egotistical in making everything for His glory? No. If God loves that which is most supreme, He must love Himself. The first commandment applies to God: “You shall have no other gods before me.” God enjoys being God, especially through revealing His mercy in the light of the gospel for sinners.
God has chosen to reveal His glory through His imperfect human vessels. “But we have this treasure in jars of clay, to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us” (2 Corinthians 4:7). Human weakness is not a barrier to God’s power. God uses ordinary people to glorify Himself. This is why we live to the praise of His glory. Nothing else matters except the glory of God. Only in Him do we find our deepest and greatest purpose and happiness.

PRAYER
Father, be glorified in me, at my expense.
