Show him my salvation. Psalm 91:16

D.L. MOODY
I believe we don’t learn the fringe of the subject of salvation down here. When our Master was on Earth, He said He had many more things to say, but He could not reveal them to His disciples because they were not ready to receive them. But when we go yonder, when these mortal bodies have put on immorality, when our spiritual faculties are loosed from the servitude of the flesh, I believe we shall be able to take more in. God will lead us from glory to glory, and show us the fullness of our salvation. Don’t you think Moses knew more at the Mount of Transfiguration than he did at Pisgah (where Moses saw the Promised Land)? Didn’t Christ talk with him then about the death He was to accomplish at Jerusalem? He couldn’t have received this truth before, but when he had received his glorified body, Christ could show him everything.

ERWIN LUTZER
John Bunyan, in The Pilgrim’s Progress, said that when pilgrims Hopeful and Christian could see the holy city in the distance, it was too beautiful for human eyes. So, they needed a special instrument by which they could see it because they could not look at it directly.
We have this marvelous account in God’s Word (see Revelation 19:1–6; Revelation 21, 22) of what eternity with Christ will be like. We know the meaning of the words written on the page, but when we try to grasp the concept, it always eludes us. It is never what we really think it is—it is so much better. So much better! Though we see, thank God, we see dimly  (1 Corinthians 13:12). We don’t get it all, but we try to because it is so much better than we could imagine it to be.

PRAYER
Father, inspire me to live in light of eternity and to eagerly desire the revealing of your glory.

REFLECTION QUESTIONS
How will our knowledge of God affect our worship of Him in the eternal state? How does it affect our worship now?

Are you more captivated by this world or by God's promise of what awaits us in eternity?
