A Beautiful Future

Prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. Revelation 21:2

D.L. MOODY
There are constant sounds around us we cannot hear, and the sky is studded with bright worlds our eyes have never seen. Little as we know about this bright and radiant land, there are glimpses of its beauty that come to us now and then.
Perhaps nothing but the shortness of our range of sight keeps us from seeing the celestial gates all open to us, and nothing but the deafness of our ears prevents our hearing the joyful ringing of the bells of heaven.

ERWIN LUTZER
The eternal bride of Christ will radiate beauty and glory, adorned for her husband, Christ Himself. We will be in that New Jerusalem that is coming down out of heaven as a bride.
Just as the Most Holy Place (Holy of Holies) of the Old Testament tabernacle was a cube, so will be the New Jerusalem. And we will dwell in the Most Holy Place throughout all eternity! With no fear of being contaminated by sin, we will be holy and totally free of all sin. Imagine the presence of God directly without sin coming in between.
In the New Jerusalem there is no temple, “for its temple is the Lord God the Almighty and the Lamb. And the city has no need of sun or moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and its lamp is the Lamb” (Revelation 21:22–23). This will be our first experience with uncreated light. We will have direct immediate access to God with no need for a mediator. God and His people will dwell together in the new Jerusalem—forever.

PRAYER
Father, why do you so honor us? Help me to marvel at your great love that would redeem me and bring me into your presence forever.

REFLECTION QUESTIONS
Because of what Christ did we can come to God. Is there anything you hold away from God?

How can you live in light of the eternity that is to come?
