But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 2 Corinthians 12:9
D.L. MOODY
When we are weak, then we are strong. People often think they have not strength enough; the fact is, we have too much strength. It is when we feel that we have no strength of our own that we are willing that God should use us and work through us. If we are leaning on God’s strength, we have more than all the strength of the world.
ERWIN LUTZER
Sometimes we think to ourselves, “Jesus can’t be my example because, after all, He was God. He had a divine nature, so He really doesn’t understand me and my weakness.” Yet, Jesus did not depend on His divine nature when He lived as man. That’s why He prayed; that’s why He was thirsty; that’s why He was weary on His journey and sat on a well. Jesus was not afraid to show His weakness. See Him there in Gethsemane as He invites three of His disciples to pray with Him that He might endure His agony. He was committed to do the will of the Father, and His own apprehension and weakness did not stand in the way. We need to pray even when God does not answer as we might wish.
Removed from pride, in our weakness, we can turn to God and say, “Not my will, but yours, be done” (Luke 22:42).
Weakness is not a barrier, it is used to display God’s strength.
