Free Wisdom

If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind. James 1:5–6

D.L. MOODY
So faith is the golden key that unlocks the treasures of heaven. It was the shield David took when he met Goliath on the field; he believed that God was going to deliver the Philistine into his hands. Someone has said that faith could lead Christ about anywhere; wherever He found it, He honored it.
Unbelief sees something in God’s hand and says, “I cannot get it.” Faith sees it, and says, “I will have it.”

ERWIN LUTZER
Clearly, God takes delight in giving us wisdom when we are confronted with difficult choices. To receive wisdom, we must meet these requirements. First, James says we are to ask in faith. We have to believe that God will actually give wisdom as generously as He has promised. Second, it’s clear that we have to be willing to obey the wisdom God gives us. Third, we must ask ourselves: “How does God’s wisdom come to us?” The wise path is always consistent with the Scriptures (Psalm 119:105; James 1:22–25).
Beyond that, wisdom comes through peace in our minds and hearts that we’re doing the right thing (Isaiah 26:3; Philippians 4:7); or wisdom often comes to us through the counsel of another person whom God puts in our path (Psalm 1:1; Proverbs 12:15).
God can close or open doors as He leads those willing to be led.

PRAYER
Father, give me a heart of wisdom willing to obey you and respond in faith.
